Position Summary
Mahaveer University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional for the critical role of Finance Officer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, budgeting, and compliance within an academic or similar institutional setting. The Finance Officer will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the University, ensuring transparency, accountability, and alignment with both statutory requirements and the University’s strategic goals.
This is an important position that requires a candidate who can manage complex financial tasks and lead the University’s financial planning and reporting processes with integrity and expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the University’s financial management, including budgeting, financial reporting, and forecasting.
Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and maintain proper accounting standards.
Manage financial audits and coordinate with external auditors for accurate and timely reports.
Lead the preparation of the University’s annual budget and ensure proper allocation of financial resources across departments.
Monitor cash flow and ensure efficient financial operations.
Provide strategic advice on financial matters to senior management and the University’s governing body.
Implement cost control measures and identify opportunities for financial efficiency and growth.
Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of financial resources.
Manage payroll, procurement, and financial aspects of contracts and grants.
Collaborate with various departments to assess financial needs and provide support for resource planning.
Required Qualifications
CA/ICWA, Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field from a recognized institution.
Proven experience (at least 10 years) in financial management, with at least 5 years in same position with an Indian University established by law..
Deep understanding of Indian accounting standards, taxation laws, and university financial operations.
Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Familiarity with financial software and ERP systems.
Strong understanding of the regulatory environment in Indian higher education institutions.

Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior management, faculty, and external stakeholders.

Term & Compensation
The appointment will be on a full-time, permanent basis.
